Last month, I went to Femtech Tokyo with Hiromi-san♪

Femtech stands for “Female” and “Technology.”

・Menstruation

・Pregnancy, Fertility, Postpartum

・Pre-menopause, Menopause

Femtech refers to products and services that use the power of technology to solve health issues specific to women, such as those mentioned above, and femcare refers to products and services that take care of health issues specific to women in a way that does not rely on technology.

There was a wide variety of femtech and femcare products lined up at the venue such as water-absorbing shorts for menstruation, vaginal care products, exercise equipment for pelvic floor muscles, etc.

A few years ago, when the topic of menstruation came up in a conversation with a friend, I learned that my friends used to be pessimistic about menstruation, and that some of them were too embarrassed to tell their family when they got their first period. I wondered how many people were suffering from this problem, and that’s when I started to become curious about femtech and femcare.

Then I became even more interested in femtech and femcare as I grew up and reflected on my experiences, but at that time it wasn’t as popular in Japan as it is now, so I was getting information from other countries’ sites and Instagram. 

An Australian sanitary products brand sells gift boxes to celebrate the first menstruation, and they contain sanitary products with cute patterns.

I thought that receiving this gift would make menstruation more enjoyable.

How nice to not be pessimistic and celebrate it like it’s your birthday.

There are many important things that are not discussed enough at schools in Japan.

Not only about menstruation, but also the importance of gynecological checkups, vaginal care, menopause measures, etc…

It makes me think about the fact that there are no taboo topics to enrich your life.

Now that technology is developing, I hope that information on femtech and femcare will become more abundant and become more familiar (*´`*)
